Backpacking and Bites: My Month in Europe
Share
Before the busy years of law school and parenting, I traveled as much as I could. I did the quintessential backpacking trip throughout Europe with a friend. One of my favorite stops on a month-long journey was the stunning city of Dresden, Germany.
The architecture was breathtaking, but if I am being honest, my primary motivation for traveling has always been the food. Trying a new dish in a city I have never visited before is one of my greatest sources of happiness. Whether it was a scrumptious croissant in Paris or a gelato in Italy, every bite felt like a new discovery.
Fueling the Creative Fire
I often find that exploring the world is what feeds the "Joy" in my art today. The colors of a European sunset, the textures of old cobblestone streets, and the vibrant energy of a foreign market all live somewhere in my subconscious. When I sit down to draw at my studio in Orinda, those memories often find their way onto the page.
Travel reminds me that the world is huge, colorful, and full of wonder. Even though I travel a bit differently now with my family, that spark of curiosity remains the same. It is a reminder to keep looking for beauty in every corner of the world.
What is your favorite travel destination? Is there a place that completely changed the way you see the world? I would love to hear your travel stories!
